Rain and Snow on the Horizon for Southern Nevada; Mojave Desert

An approaching weather system will bring rain to southern Mojave Desert and Mohave County tomorrow, followed by a stronger storm midweek, according to the National Weather Service Las Vegas office.

According to the National Weather Service Las Vegas, precipitation will begin Tuesday morning, with the heaviest rain expected along and south of I-40, including southern San Bernardino County and Mohave County. Mountain snow is expected to blanket higher elevations, including the Sierra and southern Nevada, with up to 2 feet of snow possible. Winter Storm Watches have been issued for areas above 5,500 feet, including US-95 and US-93. Calmer conditions are anticipated for Friday and Saturday, but gusty winds and rain will return by Sunday.
