AUSTIN (KXAN) — Everything’s bigger — and better — in Texas, with nine Lone Star State restaurants among Yelp’s roundup of the 100 best dining spots in the country this year.
Among eateries flagged, overarching trends include fast-casual and takeout spots, Middle Eastern flavors, multicultural cuisines and an emphasis on eco-friendly dining.
Here’s a look at the top Texas spots this year, according to Yelp.
No. 25: Tatsumi Sushi in Austin
Located at 2700 W. Anderson Lane, Ste. 212 in Austin, Tatsumi Sushi centers its dishes around seasonal menu offerings, the restaurant noted online. Selections include cold and hot plates, nigiri and sashimi, sushi rolls, handrolls and omakase.
No. 32: EBESU Robata & Sushi in Plano
EBESU Robata & Sushi , a modern Japanese bistro at 1007 E. 15th St. in Plano, opened in the historic downtown Plano Arts District in 2019 and “introduces a reimagined take on Japanese cuisine,” the restaurant said. It serves up nigiri, signature rolls, robata and rice bowls alongside sake and whisky flights as well as a variety of mixed drinks.
No. 51: Mike’s Chicken in Dallas
Located at 4234 Maple Ave. in Dallas, Mike’s Chicken launched in 2014. Menu features include chicken plates, sandwiches, salads, homemade sauces and a variety of side dishes like mashed potatoes, mac & cheese and coleslaw.
No. 59: Southern Yankee Crafthouse in Houston
Southern Yankee Crafthouse , a gastropub that opened at 1312 W. Alabama St. in Houston in 2021, crafted its menu around “quality, variety, and comfort” dishes. Menu items include ribeye, lamb, and pork chop plates, wings by the pound, sandwiches, pizzas, and desserts.
No. 75: Yorienn Korean Fried Chicken & Yori Shop of Carrollton in Carrollton
Located at 4070 State Highway 121, Ste. 320 in Carrollton, Yorienn Chicken is a Korean restaurant whose menu centers around Korean-style fried chicken and fast-casual dishes. The restaurant has several menus centered around chicken dishes, chef’s special offerings, a kkotgye menu, a tang tang tang one as well as those for side dishes and drinks offered.
No. 81: The Original Roy Hutchins Barbeque in Trophy Club
The Original Roy Hutchins Barbeque has been serving up Texas barbeque flavors since 1978. Located at 3000 Texas State Highway 114 in Trophy Club, the restaurant offers prime meats like brisket, sausage, ribs and pulled pork, sides like mac & cheese, potato salad and fried okra, sandwiches, desserts and a “Texas Twinkie”: a bacon-wrapped jalapeño filled with cream cheese and brisket.
No. 87: The Mayor’s House By Selda in Dallas
