Former Evangel Christian Academy Bookkeeper Arrested for Felony Theft

SHREVEPORT, La. – A former bookkeeper at Evangel Christian Academy has been arrested following an investigation into financial discrepancies spanning more than a year.

According to the Shreveport Police Department (SPD), detectives with the White Collar Crimes Unit launched an investigation on February 14, 2025, after being contacted by the school’s Director of Development regarding suspicious bookkeeping activity. An internal review revealed financial discrepancies between April 2023 and June 2024.

Angela Nichole Stevens, who served as the academy’s bookkeeper from April 12, 2023, to June 13, 2024, was solely responsible for handling and depositing cash payments collected from various school departments. Investigators determined that large sums of cash intended for deposit were missing and later traced to Stevens’ personal bank account.
