One seriously injured in Norfolk house fire

NORFOLK, Va.(WAVY)– Crews in Norfolk responded to a fire early Wednesday morning that sent one person to the hospital.

According to officials, crews were dispatched to the 8000 block of Galveston Blvd at 1:48 a.m. for the report of a residential structure fire. When crews arrived on scene, they found heavy smoke coming from the second floor of the residence.

When crews entered the home, they conducted a search and attacked the fire.

One victim was rescued from the second floor. They were taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Crews said the victim was unable to escape due to the fire blocking off access to the stairs…
