VIDA: Last week, a local woman was rescued from her wrecked car after four hours in forty-degree water.
At about 8 p.m. on March 5th, Lane County Sheriff’s deputies responded with Oregon State Police to a report of a vehicle crashing into the McKenzie River near Milepost 31 of the McKenzie Highway. Multiple fire agencies responded to the incident and personnel attempted to recover the driver for several hours before a U.S. Coast Guard helicopter recovered the driver, a 71-year-old woman.
Police said their response was complicated by high water, darkness, and the precarious location of the vehicle, which was stuck on a rock ledge in the middle of the river, just above Brown’s Hole…
