HONOLULU (KHON2) — The Hawaiʻi Department of Transportation is notifying drivers of an update in the closure for night work on the Eastbound H-1 Freeway Improvement Project from Ola Lane Overpass to the Likelike Highway off-ramp.

Beginning on March 17, crews will close the leftmost lane in each direction on the H-1 Freeway on Monday nights through Thursday nights, from 9 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. Friday closures will occur from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m., with the closures meant to probe and grout work at the Gulick Avenue Overpass.

All on- and off-ramps in the work area will stay open during the hours of the lane closure, and the work is anticipated to be completed no later than March 28, but that could change.

On top of the nightly closures, crews will continue to work daily o Richard Lane and Gulick Avenue with an alternating single lane closure Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. for widening of the freeway. HDOT estimates that work will be completed by July of this year.

HDOT is also reminding drivers of an upcoming installation of a temporary pedestrian bridge, which will require the complete closure of the H-1 Freeway overnight, with that work being estimated to begin in November of this year.
