Although Prince Harry stepped down from his role as a senior royal in 2020 and relocated to the U.S. with his wife, Meghan Markle, the Duke of Sussex recently conveyed his strong connection to the UK. He expressed excitement about the Invictus Games’ return to the UK in 2027, marking the event’s first time back in the country since its 2014 debut. The games will be held in Birmingham.

In an interview, Prince Harry shared the emotional significance of Birmingham for himself and many wounded and sick veterans, stating, “Birmingham for us, is a very, very emotionally connected place.” He explained that many veterans receiving treatment in Birmingham woke up there after being injured in Afghanistan.

He further emphasized his deep respect for the Invictus community: “I’ve learned, evolved, and been shaped by the resilience and brilliance of our Invictus community. Serving them and their families remains one of the greatest privileges of my life.”

Public reaction to Prince Harry’s comments has been mixed.
