Eight-Year-Old Coffee Connoisseur Lands Deal on Shark Tank
Ethan Sanborn, a pint-sized entrepreneur with a big love for coffee, recently dove headfirst into the Shark Tank. With the help of his dad, David, eight-year-old Ethan pitched Kiid Coffee, a caffeine-free coffee beverage designed specifically for kids.
Young Ethan charmed the Sharks, confessing his love for coffee and his habit of sneaking sips from his dad’s cup. Kiid Coffee offered a solution – a healthy and delicious way for Ethan and other kids to enjoy the taste of coffee without the caffeine jitters.
Launched in April 2024, Kiid Coffee had already generated an impressive $75,000 in sales by the time the Sanborns appeared on the show. Seeking $50,000 for a 5% stake in their company, the father-son duo fielded offers from several Sharks.
Kevin O’Leary initially proposed $50,000 for a 30% stake, while Lori Greiner and Mark Cuban teamed up to offer $50,000 for 20%. Daniel Lubetzky, with his extensive experience in the food and beverage industry, matched the 20% offer.
O’Leary then countered with a 15% stake.
Facing a tough decision, Ethan and David ultimately partnered with Lubetzky, prioritizing his industry expertise over the potential social media reach offered by O’Leary. David praised Lubetzky’s experience and character, noting the valuable guidance he provides. Lubetzky, in turn, commended Ethan’s genuine interest in the business, while acknowledging the importance of balancing work with playtime for a child.
The partnership appears to be a winning combination. With David continuing to manage social media marketing and Lubetzky providing strategic guidance, Kiid Coffee seems poised for continued growth. Only time will tell how far this young entrepreneur and his caffeine-free coffee can go.
