CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) – A powerful severe weather maker will plow through the Southeast this weekend bringing the potential of widespread strong storms. Thankfully, this storm system will be in a weakening state as it arrives in the Lowcountry on Sunday.
Expect a mostly sunny sky today with highs near 80 degrees inland, near 70° at beaches. An onshore breeze will begin to pick up Saturday bringing in occasional clouds and even the chance of a few showers Saturday afternoon. Highs will return to the upper 70s to near 80°.
A strong cold front will move toward the Lowcountry Sunday bringing the chance of showers and storms. The day should start out dry but the chance of rain and storms will increase from lunchtime into the afternoon. There is a slight risk of severe weather with gusty winds being the main concern. Right now, it looks like the chance of significant severe weather is unlikely. A cold front will move offshore Sunday night bringing a return to sunshine and cooler weather for St. Patrick’s Day…
