New nearly $10M park to come to northwest Fresno

FRESNO, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – Nearly $10 million has been approved for the construction of a new park in Fresno that Councilmember Annalisa Perea says will bring tribute to “a civil rights icon who has dedicated her life to justice and empowerment.”

A contract of $9,950,023.15 was approved for the construction of the new 4.5-acre Dolores Huerta Park at 4550 W. Dakota Ave., in northwest Fresno during Thursday’s city council meeting.

According to officials, the park will include playgrounds, a splash pad, multi-use courts, a skate park, dog park, shaded seating and restrooms. The project will also include landscaping improvements, new sidewalks, street lighting, bike lanes and road enhancements along West Dakota Avenue…
