Judge: Woman accused of stabbing Lincoln man with soldering iron not mentally competent

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A Lancaster County judge ruled Thursday that a woman accused of stabbing a man with a soldering iron is not mentally fit to stand trial.

But Judge Thomas Zimmerman wrote that 50-year-old Lisa Beverly will likely become mentally competent in the “foreseeable future.”

Beverly will be committed to the Lincoln Regional Center, a psychiatric hospital, for treatment…
