Man wrongfully convicted of murdering Oregon prison chief gets $2M from state in compensation

PORTLAND, Ore. — The state of Oregon has offered to pay nearly $2 million to settle a wrongful murder conviction lawsuit in the case of Frank Gable, who spent nearly three decades in prison before he was exonerated.

The decision to settle was made earlier this month. It includes the state agreeing to pay the full amount Gable was seeking, which is limited by state statute based on how many years an innocent person spent behind bars.
