EPA Chief Vows Agency Transformation Under Trump

EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin appeared on FOX Business’ “Mornings with Maria” to discuss the agency’s new direction under President Trump. Zeldin emphasized a commitment to both economic growth and environmental protection.

Zeldin stated the EPA’s goal is to ease burdens on businesses and consumers, making it easier to buy cars, heat homes, and operate small businesses, ultimately creating more job opportunities. He linked these efforts to President Trump’s mandate and the desire for economic relief expressed by the American public.

The administrator also addressed the allocation of billions of dollars in grants to non-governmental organizations (NGOs) under the previous administration. Zeldin raised concerns about the distribution of these funds, alleging that many recipients were newly formed NGOs with ties to the Democratic Party and the Biden and Obama administrations.

He cited examples of organizations receiving billions despite having minimal prior revenue. The EPA has since terminated these contracts, frozen the funds, and referred the matter to the Department of Justice and the FBI for investigation.

Zeldin reiterated the EPA’s commitment to ensuring Americans have access to clean air, land, and water, calling it a cornerstone of the “Great American comeback.” He highlighted the agency’s focus on energy dominance, permitting reform, and establishing America as a global leader in artificial intelligence, all while working to revitalize the American auto industry.
