Middleburg Heights woman defrauded of $8,000 in credit union-phone scam

MIDDLEBURG HEIGHTS, Ohio – An Ivy Lane woman reported March 4 that she was defrauded of more than $8,000 through a phone scam.

The woman told police that she received a call from a man claiming to be a fraud-detection specialist at her credit union. He said her credit card number had been used to buy merchandise at several stores in West Palm Beach.

The man asked the woman if she owned a credit card ending with four specific numbers. She said she had canceled that particular card in the past…
