Marietta Council Approves Law Cracking Down on Homeless Camps

The Marietta City Council gave final approval this week to a measure targeting homeless encampments on private property.

The ordinance allows police to charge people camping, sleeping, storing personal property or lying on private property without the owner’s permission. It was first brought before the council in January by Police Chief David Beam.

At the time, Beam said the measure was in response to complaints police receive “on almost a daily basis” about homeless people camping in the city…
