MT. JULIET, Tenn. (WSMV) – Severe storms are forecast to hit Middle Tennessee overnight Friday when many people are asleep, so officials said it’s more important than ever to make sure you have a way to get emergency alerts that will wake you up as danger approaches.
Officials in Mt. Juliet said their MJAlert system saved multiple lives when the deadly March 2020 tornadoes hit the city in the middle of the night. Many people said their phones went off and they were able to get into their safe places before the storm came ripping through.
First responders said everyone needs at least two ways to get storm warnings, and your city or county’s alert system is a very useful resource. Places like Mt. Juliet and Metro Nashville will send texts or calls to your phone if you sign up for alerts…
