Syracuse, NY – A fast-moving house fire early Thursday morning left one firefighter injured and displaced seven residents on the city’s West Side.
At approximately 3:10 a.m. on March 13, the Onondaga County 911 Center received reports of a fire at 1216 South Geddes Street. Syracuse Fire Department crews from Station 3, located on Bellevue Avenue, arrived within minutes to find heavy flames erupting from the first floor of the two-story, wood-framed, three-family residence. Firefighters from Engine 3 quickly transmitted a “Signal 99”, indicating a working fire.
Fire crews worked rapidly, maneuvering hoses to the rear of the building while search teams entered to conduct a systematic sweep for potential victims. Fortunately, no occupants were found inside, and all residents were confirmed to have evacuated safely…
