Public Intoxication Arrest in Hopkins County
HOPKINS COUNTY, Texas – Officers with the Sulphur Springs Police Department arrested a man for public intoxication after responding to a late-night disturbance on March 14, 2025.
According to the arrest report, officers were on a separate traffic stop when a woman flagged them down, appearing distressed. She told deputies that a man, later identified as Cody James Cummings, 23 , of Sulphur Springs, was trying to enter her vehicle against her wishes.
As officers approached, they observed Cummings exiting the woman’s car and refusing to step away when instructed. Deputies noted a strong odor of alcohol coming from his person. The woman stated that Cummings had been screaming at her inside the vehicle and would not leave when asked…
