UPDATE: Tornado Watch issued for Christian County, 80 mph winds possible ahead of storms

Update, 2:04 a.m.: The Tornado Watch has been extended until 4 a.m.

HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Watch for Christian County from March 14 at 7:30 p.m. through March 15 at 3 a.m.

“Several strong tornadoes are likely in the Tornado Watch area, in addition to hail up to tennis ball size and straight-line wind gusts up to 80 mph,” said a statement from NWS in Paducah. Two waves of storms are expected to come through overnight Friday and into Saturday.

While Crofton in north Christian County has a legitimate tornado shelter able to hold a few hundred people, the community is also able to shelter at First Baptist Church in Hopkinsville or at the Oak Grove Community Center if needed…
