Detroit Braces for Mix of Thunderstorms and Snow in a Breezy, Unsettled Week Ahead

Detroit residents should brace themselves for a wet and windy week ahead, as the latest weather forecasts predict a mix of rain, thunderstorms, and even snow. According to the National Weather Service, today’s temperatures will reach a high near 68, with thunderstorms also possible after 5 pm. South winds will be blowing at a speed of 17 to 22 mph, and gusts could reach as high as 46 mph, making for a breezy day. Rainfall could total less than a tenth of an inch, but higher amounts are possible in thunderstorms.

As the evening progresses, the chance of rain and thunderstorms remains, transitioning to steady rainfall after 8 pm. The night is forecast to be breezy with south winds between 11 to 18 mph, and the low temperature hovers around 49 degrees. Gusts could reach up to 31 mph, and new precipitation might accumulate between a quarter and half of an inch.

Heading into Sunday, the National Weather Service indicates that rain will continue, mainly before 2 pm. Temperatures are expected to take a dip to around 43 by late afternoon. Winds will shift from south southwest to west in the morning, ranging from 10 to 15 mph, with the potential for gusts up to 24 mph.
