Pleasanton community outraged over possible closure of aquatic center

PLEASANTON, Calif. ( KRON ) — The Dolores Bengston Aquatic Center in Pleasanton, a longtime training ground for the Pleasanton Seahawks swim team, faces potential closure due to the city’s $13 million annual budget deficit. Pleasanton city officials are considering closing the aquatic center to save $1.2 million, part of a broader proposal to cut $14.7 million from the budget.

This decision could impact not only swim teams but also a variety of community programs offered at the facility.

“I swam at this pool since I was 3 and it’s always been a great pool for me,” said Grayson Swanson, a Pleasanton Seahawks swimmer. “I think it’s been one of my luckiest pools.”
