Stormy start to Saturday, gusty winds and rain return later!

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) – After a stormy start to our Saturday we continue to see a windy and mild day in the forecast.

Most if not all of the state is under a Wind Advisory for southerly winds at 20 to 30 miles per hours gusting anywhere from 50 to 55 mph at times. The advisory continues through the day and wraps up around 8 pm tonight. Gusty winds will blow around any unsecured objects such as tree branches and even trash barrels so use caution when driving as there could be some debris on roadways from the gusty winds.

The main weather system remains to our west, however, isolated showers and very gusty winds continue through the day as the system moves through the area. Today we will see mostly cloudy skies however a few peeks of sunshine is possible, temperatures once again warm into the low 70s for the day.

Tonight another round of showers and storms are possible as a the systems cold front moves through the area. Temperatures quickly drop back into the upper 30s to low 40s tonight after the frontal passage with the possibility of a few flakes late tonight into early Sunday morning.

A damp and cool day is in the forecast for Sunday as we continue to see off and on showers with temperatures starting in the mid 40s but slowly dropping into the 30s by the afternoon. Rain gets replaced with light scattered snow showers into the afternoon and evening.

If you are feeling green from the weather whiplash we have had over the past few days, we will have a bit of relief for both Monday (where you will most certainly be seeing green as it is St. Patrick’s Day) and Tuesday. Monday will feature mostly sunny skies with seasonable temperatures into the mid to upper 40s, 60s return by Tuesday with a mix of clouds and sun. Another active mid-week pattern could be in the forecast that brings rain and snow showers back to the forecast by Thursday morning…
