Crash at Modesto Reservoir leaves helicopter in water, according to sheriff’s department

A helicopter crash at Modesto Reservoir around 11 a.m. Saturday resulted in major injuries to one person and closed the waterway, according to the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department .

There were two people known to be in the aircraft when it crashed into the water, according to initial reports. The pilot and a passenger were transported to a hospital.

Although major, the one person’s injuries did not appear to be life threatening, according to Erich Layton, a sheriff’s department spokesperson. Injuries to the second person were unknown…
