PORTLAND, Ore. ( KOIN ) — A man has been convicted in connection with the 2018 killing of an individual whose body was found in a burning car in North Portland.
The Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office reported that Thomas Robert Colon pled guilty to second-degree arson, second-degree abuse of a corpse and tampering with physical evidence during his trial on Friday morning. The 44-year-old man was initially indicted for second-degree murder, in addition to the other charges.

The trial centers on the death of Andrew Hathaway. Authorities said the 27-year-old victim drove to a residence belonging to two other men, where Colon was also visiting, on Sept. 3, 2018.
According to the District Attorney’s Office, the group was collectively “using drugs and high” before Hathaway and Colon were left alone by the tenants and a physical fight broke out…
