New Social Security System Aims to Improve Disability Hearings Processing Time for Alabama Residents

Alabama residents with pending disability claims may soon see improvements in their hearing process. According to an official blog post by the Social Security Administration (SSA) on March 13, 2025, the agency announced the nationwide rollout of its Hearing Recording and Transcriptions (HeaRT) system, which is set to be completed by March 17, 2025.

The HeaRT system replaces the outdated and bulky hardware used in hearing offices with a software-based solution. This new system records and produces transcripts for hearings using generative Artificial Intelligence (AI), ensuring a more accurate and efficient process. By using HeaRT, SSA expects to save about $5 million per year.
