CALERA, Ala. (WIAT ) — A Calera city worker says he’s grateful to be alive after his mobile home was seriously damaged in Saturday night’s storm.
Tim Striegel and his daughter, Krystal, left the home and sought shelter in a friend’s basement before the severe weather moved in.
CBS 42 caught up with them as they returned to the home to retrieve Krystal’s dog and cat. They say they are still missing one of the two cats.
“We were actually contemplating riding it out,” Striegel said. “And this room that is destroyed, that’s my bedroom, I would have been in there.”…
