PA Fishing Opens April 5, with Local Waters Well-Stocked

HARRISBURG PA – Anglers are eagerly looking ahead to spring fishing opportunities within western Montgomery, eastern Berks, and northern Chester counties. Given the anticipation, they’re likely to be pleased by the remainder of the 2025 adult trout stocking schedule available from the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission.

Pennsylvania’s statewide opening day of trout season is April 5 (Saturday). With the season opener only 20 days away Brian Niewinski, director of the commission’s Bureau of Hatcheries, observes that “every angler can benefit from knowing when their favorite stream or lake will be stocked with trout.”

Stocking operations began during mid-February, and will continue through early May. Fishing is not permitted on lakes and streams designated as stocked trout waters between Feb. 17 and April 5 at 8 a.m. Search the full database of trout stocking operations statewide at the commission’s “Adult Trout Stocking By County” webpage.

The following stocking is still ahead on the commission’s calendar:…
