As much of Alabama prepared for potential severe weather, James Spann was doing all he could making sure residents were informed and safe. Part of that duty seemed to be addressing another meteorologist who chimed in online with “irresponsible” comments.
Saturday afternoon, Bryan Hughes of WOWK-TV which serves the Charleston–Huntington area made a post on Facebook mentioning the possibility of dying from a tornado.
“WILL YOU DIE TODAY?”
Above are the first words of the post Hughes made on Facebook which featured a graphic mentioning the chances of a tornado death within a certain distance.
The post, which has since been deleted, went on to say, “There’s a 6% chance you or someone you know will die from a tornado today. If you’re in that zone in Alabama or Georgia…you should be prepared! Seriously, there’s a map for almost anything these days.”
James Spann decided to comment on the post made by Hughes and the message from Spann was quite clear…
