NWS confirms EF-1 tornado caused damage in Pender County

PENDER COUNTY, N.C. (WECT) – A possible tornado touchdown caused damage in Pender County this evening.

According to Pender County Emergency Management (PCEM), the possible touchdown occurred at around 7:30 p.m. along the 4000 block of Herrings Chapel Road in Burgaw during a line of storms.

PCEM says the damage consisted of several snapped trees and downed powerlines in the roadways. The affected area has very few homes and there are currently no reported structure damages or injuries…
