Historic Denver college campus turned into affordable housing

DENVER — A former college campus in east Denver has been transformed into one of the city’s newest affordable housing complexes, providing a potential blueprint for tackling Denver’s severe housing shortage.

The Mosaic Community Campus, once home to Johnson & Wales University and originally the Colorado Women’s College, now offers 154 affordable housing units inside four renovated dormitory buildings.

“This is really a flagship project for Archway Communities,” said Laura Brudzynski, CEO of Archway Communities, the nonprofit developer behind the project. “It’s a unique opportunity to preserve existing historic structures and adapt them to meet today’s urgent need for affordable housing.”…
