The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory at 3:40 a.m. on Monday valid from 5 p.m. until Tuesday 5 p.m. for North Oregon Cascades, Cascades of Marion and Linn counties and Cascades of Lane County.
The weather service adds to prepare for, “Total snow accumulations between 5 and 9 inches.”
“Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will become slick and hazardous,” comments the weather service. “Be prepared for slippery roads. Slow down and use caution while driving. If you are going outside, watch your first few steps taken on stairs, sidewalks, and driveways. These surfaces could be icy and slippery, increasing your risk of a fall and injury. Consider postponing travel until weather conditions improve. If you must travel, be sure to slow down and allow extra time. If your car becomes trapped in deep snow, be sure to keep your car off to stay safe from potential carbon monoxide poisoning. Backcountry recreation is not advised.”
