The University of Arizona has announced a $2 million grant from Raytheon, part of the RTX Corporation, in support of the College of Engineering’s Student Design and Innovation Center (SDIC).
The funding will support the creation of a 100,000-square-foot center, which will include collaborative classrooms, and an advising center. Construction is dependent on fundraising but could start within two years. When complete, the SDIC will accommodate the College of Engineering’s continued growth; the incoming class has grown 25 percent over the past five years.
“Raytheon’s generous gift brings us closer to realizing this critical goal,” said College of Engineering dean David W. Hahn. “The SDIC will provide many benefits for our students and for industries like defense, which urgently needs well-trained engineers.”…
