Albany woman admits sending ‘legal’ docs laced with drugs to prisons

ALBANY — A 33-year-old Albany woman pleaded guilty on Monday to federal criminal charges for lacing copy paper and business envelopes with synthetic marijuana and sending the documents into state correctional facilities disguised as legal mail.

The case against Maya McIntosh underscores a method of contraband smuggling that New York correction officers have said has contributed to unsafe working conditions in prison facilities, where drug use and trafficking has been rampant.
