Demolition to begin for proposed Costco in Guilderland

GUILDERLAND, N.Y. ( NEWS10 )– Home and tree demolitions will soon commence for the proposed Costco and New York Oncology and Hematology Treatment Center (NYOH) in Guilderland. Town officials said on Monday that locals may see more activity along Crossgates Mall Road and Western Avenue in the near future.

NYOH announced the treatment center’s arrival in January 2025, and town officials said the town planning board analyzed both the sites for NYOH and Costco in a year-and-a-half-long review. The review covered potential environmental impacts, traffic impacts, neighborhood impacts, and more.

Neighbors near the development site filed a lawsuit against the facility’s developers in 2023. In June 2024, the courts rejected the legal challenge.

Town officials said the Albany Pine Bush Preserve, Department of Environmental Conservation, Department of Transportation, and US Fish and Wildlife Service agreed the proposed project has no negative environmental impacts. Costco’s estimated completion date is the last quarter of 2025, while NYOH plans to open in December 2026…
