Road Shark traffic enforcement campaign returns to Virginia streets

FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. — After issuing nearly 35,000 citations and warnings in 2024, Fairfax County and Virginia State police departments are launching this year’s “Road Shark” campaign and hoping to build on last year’s success.

According to FCPD and VSP, the Road Shark program has noticeably lowered traffic incidents in Fairfax County since it was introduced in 1999. They ramped up enforcement efforts between 2023 and 2024, giving out more than 10,000 more citations and warnings in 2024 than the year before. Now, they’re hoping to keep the momentum going.
