Spencer woman charged with stealing dead person’s Social Security benefits

A Spencer woman is facing federal charges of fraudulently obtaining a deceased person’s Social Security benefits for more than 15 years.

Gina Llerena-Donohue, 62, is charged with one count of bank fraud and will make an appearance in federal court in Worcester at a later date, according to the Office of U.S. Attorney Leah B. Foley.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office alleges that Llerena-Donohue fraudulently obtained more than $40,000 worth of benefits for a person who died in January 2006, for whom she held power of attorney, and continued to receive payments until May 2021…
