Police: Hit-and-run suspect arrested in Fort Lauderdale; victim not expected to survive

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – A man was arrested last week after a hit-and-run crash in Fort Lauderdale left a scooter rider with life-threatening injuries, authorities confirmed Monday.

According to Fort Lauderdale police, Kimon Derris Black, 22, was driving a 2016 Honda sedan eastbound on Northwest Sixth Street just before 10:30 p.m. Thursday when he struck 45-year-old David Corprew, who was riding a motorized scooter.

Detectives said Black “had no regard for the life of Corprew” when he fled the scene without stopping to help or calling 911 after the crash occurred…
