Community mourns ‘hero’ Oklahoma father who died from severe burns rescuing son from wildfire

An Oklahoma community is in mourning after a selfless dad died from severe burn injuries he got while saving his son from the wildfires that hit the state recently .

Allen Ferguson, remembered as a “beloved” youth wrestling coach from Chandler, tragically died due to severe injuries he got in the devastating fires , shared Oklahoma House Rep. Jim Shaw. The devoted father “tragically lost his life while trying to save his son, Will, who remains in critical condition,” Shaw expressed in a statement on Monday. “Allen was a hero, and his commitment to his family and our community will never be forgotten.”

In an interview with ABC, family friend Shane Earp, 40, reiterated Shaw’s sentiments about Ferguson. The wrestling coach courageously faced the flames to carry his son Will Conley, 15, to safety on a nearby road in Chandler where they were discovered by emergency services.

Earp recounted how Ferguson comforted his son during their entire journey to calm him down. Sadly, the valiant father’s burns were too severe, and he died at the hospital on Saturday, Earp disclosed…
