Musk Blames Tesla Troubles on “Dark Forces”

Additional Coverage:

Tesla CEO Elon Musk appeared on Fox News recently, alleging that “mentally ill” individuals are sabotaging Teslas amidst a widespread boycott of his company. Blaming “dark forces” for Tesla’s recent sales slump, Musk claimed these individuals are retaliating against him for disrupting their fraudulent activities. “They basically want to kill me,” Musk stated, adding that they are targeting Tesla because he is working to stop “terrible waste and corruption in the government.”

Musk, a close ally of former President Trump, served as the head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) during the Trump administration. In this role, he spearheaded significant cuts to the federal government, drawing criticism from Democratic lawmakers and sparking protests and boycotts that have impacted Tesla’s stock value.

One of Tesla’s early investors, Ross Gerber, recently called for Musk to step down as CEO unless he relinquishes his government position. Gerber argued that Tesla’s business has been neglected and requires a dedicated leader. He suggested Musk either return to Tesla full-time or appoint a new CEO.

Meanwhile, a federal judge ruled against DOGE, stating that the department’s dismantling of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) likely violated the Constitution.

The judge issued a preliminary injunction, halting further cuts to USAID and ordering the restoration of employee access to email and computer systems. The ruling also rejected the Trump administration’s claim that Musk was merely an advisor to the former president, citing Musk’s public statements and social media posts as evidence of his control over DOGE.

The judge noted that USAID may no longer be capable of fulfilling its statutory obligations, concluding that the agency has been “effectively eliminated.”
