Opelika woman allegedly stole thousands from Auburn restaurant Vintage 2298

AUBURN, Ala. ( WRBL ) — Auburn Police, with help from Opelika Police, have arrested 48-year-old Leslie Winter of Opelika on felony allegations of identity theft and first-degree theft. Winter’s attorney tells WRBL she is innocent.

Police say the charges stem from a February 24th report of fraudulent financial activity at Vintage 2298, a well-known Auburn restaurant. Investigators allege Winter stole thousands of dollars by issuing multiple forged checks from the restaurant’s bank account and illegally obtaining $4,740.89 in digital currency.

WRBL contacted Attorney Barbi Agricola, who is representing Winter in the case. “As legal counsel for Leslie Winter, we completely deny any and all wrongful, criminal conduct. She is innocent until proven guilty. We look forward to proving her innocence and once that occurs, we intend to take every legal recourse available against those individuals who knowingly and falsely accused her of a crime that she did not commit nor could have committed.” said Agricola…
