Watch fierce winds blow icebergs into yards of Oneida Lake homes (video)

The powerful storm system that blew through Central New York on Sunday afternoon brought 60-70 mph wind gusts with it that knocked down trees and cut power to thousands of homes in Onondaga County.

On the north shore of Oneida Lake, fierce winds pushed giant chunks of ice into the yards of homeowners, creating piles of ice up to 14 feet high in some places.

“I have chunks that are 9, 10 inches thick, 2 or 3 feet in diameter, in my boat house,” said Bill Lachut, who owns a home on Dickinson Point, between Bernhards Bay and Cleveland…
