Officials, residents responding to damage caused by heavy rain and flooding

EUGENE, Ore. – Monday saw a break from heavy rain that drenched Western Oregon over the weekend, and officials are responding to the damage caused by the rainfall.

After heavy rainfall over the weekend, Oregon’s Emergency Coordination Center has been activated for a regional response. Flood warnings issued by the National Weather Service are persisting, along with a more general flood advisory for several regions. Areas where water levels are still running high include Row River near Cottage Grove, the North Umpqua River, McKenzie River, Cow Creek and several others. Some parts of the Willamette River crested at 16 feet, and are expected to stay that high for a few days.

A state of emergency was issued in Douglas County following record precipitation in Roseburg that included some snowfall. Parts of Deer Creek crested at nearly 16 feet, and the wet weather led to at least two landslides in the area.
