Missing 1- and 17-year-olds found in good health

HONOLULU (KHON2) — A 17-year-old girl and her 1-year-old child are safe after a MAILE AMBER Alert was issued on Tuesday morning.

The alert was sent almost 24 hours after the pair reportedly left their Maui home on Monday and they were both found safe on the Big Island.

Maui police said the 17-year-old mother left her residence in Kula with her 1-year-old son around 10 a.m. on March 17. A MAILE AMBER Alert was issued just before 10 a.m. on March 18.

“We want the public to know that if a MAILE AMBER Alert is activated, it is because the police have information that the child may be in danger.
