Arrest made in deadly home invasion killing pregnant teen, grandmother in Vero Beach

VERO BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — An arrest has been made in the deadly home invasion of a pregnant teenager and her grandmother in Vero Beach.

Thomas Bakkedahl from the State Attorney’s Office for the 19th Circuit confirmed on Tuesday the arrest of 20-year-old Aiden Christman in connection to the fatal shooting of 19-year-old Shelby Baker and her grandmother 68-year-old Amanda Baker.

Authorities with the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office (IRCSO) responded to the shooting on November 10, 2024, near a home on the corner of 23rd Place SW and 6th Way SW. At the scene, officers found the pregnant teen and older woman shot. As a result of the shooting, the unborn child also died.

Both Shelby and Amanda were pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. An additional person was injured as a result of the home invasion, Sheriff Flowers said.

Christman was arrested on Monday, the 19th Circuit State Attorney’s Office, and the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office (IRCSO) verified the information, stating that the investigation remains active and ongoing…
