EUGENE, Ore. – Work crews with Eugene Public Works tackled the aftermath of this past weekend’s heavy rainfall by clearing debris from drains and grates through the city.
Crews headed out at 3 a.m. on Sunday to work on clearing areas such as Amazon Creek near West 11th Avenue where the creek overflowed. Public works officials said that some trees were damaged and some private properties saw flooding but the city’s infrastructure saved things from becoming worse.
“This is a perfect example of how our storm water dollars actually are put into effect,” said Marion Suitor Barnes, city affairs manager for Eugene Public Works. So, this is where those… storm water fees (you see) on your EWEB bills, this is what we use them for.”…
