High-Speed Chase Through Oakland Streets Ends in Crash and Arrests, Suspects in Custody for Firearm Violations and Evasion

Last week’s high-speed chase in Oakland ended with a crash, a manhunt on foot, and two suspects in custody, according to an announcement by the California Highway Patrol’s Oakland division. The pursuit, which began last Thursday, saw a silver van hurtle through Oakland’s streets, its speedometer clocking over 100 miles per hour.

The events unfolded when CHP observed the van speeding north on High Street around 9:31 p.m. When officers tried to stop the vehicle, the driver escalated the situation to reckless evasion, leading to a tactical discontinuation of the pursuit by ground units. However, the skyward eyes of CHP’s Air Unit (A37) maintained a vigilant watch over the van as it tore through the city’s arterial roadways, CHP Oakland reported.
