Family of 15-year-old killed in car-scooter crash going to school share plea for change

DENVER (KDVR) — The family of the victim who was hit and killed while using a scooter near 52nd Ave and Federal Boulevard are pleading with drivers to slow down after 15-year-old Sammy Ruby’s life was taken from him.

They said that he loved video games and was respectful and loving. His family also said that people who drive the intersection treat it as a racetrack.

They are pleading with drivers to slow down and hope a growing memorial will be a reminder of the tragedy that happened.

“It’s hard knowing this is all we have, too,” said Vanessa West, the victim’s sister.
