Customers question transparency in $1M Utah liquor store donations for homeless

SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) — A program asking customers to round up their purchases at Utah state liquor stores has raised more than $1 million for homeless services since November, but some customers question where exactly their donations are going.

The state-run initiative, established through legislation in 2024, prompts cashiers to ask customers if they’d like to round up their purchase to the nearest dollar to support homeless services.
