5 surviving Hawaii firework burn victims released from Arizona hospital

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Nearly three months after a deadly New Year’s Eve fireworks explosion in Hawaii, the final two patients were released from the hospital on Monday.

According to the hospital, the other three were released earlier this month.

“Mission accomplished,” said Dr. Kevin Foster, director of the Arizona Burn Center. He says burn patients typically spend anywhere from two to nine months in the hospital. It was about 80 days in this case, but the physical and psychological recovery could take years…
