Coroner investigating death of prison inmate serving time for manslaughter

ENOREE, S.C. (FOX Carolina) – The Spartanburg County Coroner’s Office is investigating the death of an inmate at Tyger River Correctional.

The coroner said 49-year-old Jerry Roderick Cousar was transported from the prison to Spartanburg Medical Center on Wednesday. He passed away at the hospital on Thursday morning around 10 a.m.

Cousar’s cause and manner of death have not yet been released, but the coroner said foul play is not suspected.
